I didn't realize it was even legal to try to force someone to change their religious affiliations or beliefs. Let alone, use some kind of emotional torture to dangle basic necessities like food to do so. I also didn't realize there was "no proof" that there was rat poison found in the food at Rikers when lab tests confirmed it in 2015.
Before the end of this 14 minute phone conversation, I heard a guard indicate that Ramsey would be taken to commissary today. Seems like this is the cat and mouse game they are playing simple because they have control and he is at their mercy. There was also concern that his property would just be thrown away because the guards indicated the warden may not approve his property release form before his transfer upstate and that if it is not approved, they'll just throw his clothes and shoes in the garbage. Truthfully, I believe that one of those guards likes his brand new high top pumas and wants them for themselves. With the level of corruption that Rikers Correctional Officers are famous for, this is hardly a hasty generalization.
To make a complaint, which Ramsey has requested that we all do, please contact 311 and KEEP your complaint numbers!
